Steak, Green Chile, and Chocolate - What more can a NM girl want?

Craving a steak and quiet conversation on Friday, we decided to hit up an old favorite - Cattle Baron, Inc.

I began dinner with their salad bar and signature Green Chile Wontons. The salad bar boasts a plentiful assortment of fresh greens and various toppings for your choosing. Feeling like a classic, I stuck with the iceberg lettuce, spinach, cucumber, tomato and croutons mixture drizzled with tasty ranch and left the beets and garbanzo beans for the lady behind me. Right after I sat down with my salad the wontons arrived. The perfectly crispy triangles of cheesy-chile goodness hit the spot with everyone at the table. With ranch and soy dipping sauces, the dish strives to please just about anyone who gives it a try. As a native New Mexican, it struck a positive note that left me wanting to order another plate of them.

However, its a good thing I didn't order that second batch of wontons because my 10 oz. Steak New Mexico soon arrived. The steak was quite filling and satisfied that green chile desire. The steak came out sizzling from the grill adorned with green chile and melting cheese. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare (yes I like my meat moo-ing) and accompanied by a loaded baked potato. The potato was loaded with just-made bacon bits, freshly chopped chives and served with butter and sour cream on the side. For lighter eaters be prepared to ask for a to-go box.

Your going to need that to-go box if you don't want to miss out on their delicious dessert list. After much deliberation, it was decided that we wanted the Death by Chocolate, chocolate cake. It arrived stacked three layers high and frosted in a delightful chocolate frosting nestled next to a giant scoop of vanilla icecream. Unless your a stingy eater (which sometimes I am) this dessert is perfect to enjoy with your honey.

To try this meal or any of the other options served at this establishment head to 790 S. Telshor Blvd, Las Cruces NM.
